5 oz Ceramic Beeswax Candles

These beeswax candles are hand poured into hand made pottery by Kalsang, a local potter. Once the candle is finished, the pottery can be used for many years to come. Each piece is microwave and dishwasher safe.

About the Potter

I am a Tibetan Potter/Ceramicist based in Woodside, New York City. Having worked for many years as a jewelry maker for high-end jewelry brands in New York City, I finally found my calling in making and designing pottery.

Kalsang Pottery products are all hand-thrown at potter's wheel and crafted in New York City in my small Woodside home studio. I make high quality functional art pieces that can be used for everyday gastronomic pleasures and decorative home decor items that are visually pleasing and artfully therapeutic.

I believe in the singular art, beauty, and endless possibilities of handmade artisan crafts in this modern age overwhelmed with mass corporate reproduction. Each product is one-of-a-kind, handmade with the user in mind, with each perfection (and imperfection) solely thrown for the purpose of giving a character to the product that is unique and un-reproducible.

It is my sincere hope that you like my products as much as I loved making them.

About Beeswax

Beeswax is a natural, renewable resource and burns longer, drips less, and smells wonderful, naturally.

When lighting your candle for the first time, trim the wick 1/4th of an inch. If you trim the wick too short, it will extinguish quickly and if you trim the wick too long, you will have a tall hot flame and burn the wax too fast down the middle

Beeswax burns roughly 8 hours per ounce. Factors that effect burn length are how long the wick is, how long you leave the candle lit each time you burn it (recommended not to burn longer than 2 hours before letting the candle go out and harden), and hard to control factors such as oxygen in the air.

How to Reuse Your Candle Vessel

Many of our candles are poured into beautiful pottery or glass vessels, perfect for reuse as planters, decor or bud vases. Here are four simple steps to letting your candle live on!

1. Place the used candle in the freezer overnight

2. Once frozen, lightly tap the vessel on a soft surface until the wax pops out. It’s sometimes helpful to use a utensil to crack the wax and help it pop out in pieces.

4. Remove the remaining wick or glue dot by gently prying it up with a utensil.

5. Then, give the vessel a good wash and enjoy!
